This celestial event will create a path of totality where the Sun will be completely obscured for a maximum duration of 2 minutes and 18 seconds, depending on the viewer’s location.

This phenomenon is a rare opportunity for stargazers and astronomers to witness the dramatic effects of the Moon’s shadow crossing the Earth.
Will the Eclipse be visible in India?
Notably, a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves between the Earth and the Sun and blocks some or all of the Sun’s light from reaching parts of Earth. Skywatchers in India can instead watch live online broadcasts from major space agencies, including NASA and the European Space Agency. The eclipse on August 12 will be of special significance for Europe. It will be the first total eclipse of the Sun visible from mainland Europe since 1999. An estimated 980 million people worldwide will be able to see at least a partial eclipse and about 15 million people will be in the path of totality, as per NASA.
