New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Friday refused to interfere with the Andhra Pradesh High Court order quashing a case against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and minister P Narayana in connection with alleged irregularities in the land pooling scheme in capital Amaravati.
Supreme Court Upholds High Court Ruling on Land Pooling Case
The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, has decided not to intervene in a high court ruling related to a corruption case. The court emphasized that the outcome of this petition will not affect other pending cases, which must be evaluated based on their individual merits.
This case stems from an FIR filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act on March 12, 2021. The complaint was initiated by then MLA Alla Rama Krishna Reddy concerning a land pooling scheme established by a government order in 2016. Under this scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government acquired agricultural land from farmers to facilitate the development of Amaravati, the state capital, offering developed residential and commercial plots in return.
28,181 landowners across 25 villages had contributed 35,215 acres of private agricultural land for the development of Amaravati, according to the records.
