At least four individuals have lost their lives, and 19 others are receiving medical treatment after reportedly consuming toxic alcohol in Kharadi village, located in Ghogha taluka of Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, according to police reports. Authorities are currently investigating the source of the spurious liquor and the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.
Police Detain Ten in Bootleg Liquor Investigation
Authorities have detained ten suspected bootleggers for questioning after a series of illnesses linked to the consumption of substandard liquor. The affected individuals reportedly fell ill after drinking the tainted alcohol, which is believed to have originated from Madhya Pradesh.
Police are actively investigating the distribution network that brought these inferior-quality liquor bottles to Bhavnagar. They are working to determine how many bottles were sold, where they were distributed, and the involvement of those responsible for their manufacture and sale.
Forensic samples of the liquor have been sent for examination to identify harmful substances and ascertain the cause of the reported illnesses and fatalities.
Bootleggers Arrested for Selling Spurious Liquor in Bhavnagar
A preliminary investigation has revealed that a bootlegger from Vartej, Bhavnagar district, collaborated with an individual from Madhya Pradesh to profit from the sale of counterfeit liquor. They allegedly filled bottles labeled as Royal Stag with substandard liquor, diluted it with water, and marketed it as authentic. An officer involved in the case stated these findings during the ongoing investigation.
