A breathtaking aerial video of the orange-and-white Vande Bharat Express winding through the mist-covered Western Ghats has taken the internet by storm. The cinematic drone footage, originally captured by FPV creator @hemisphere.fpv, was shared by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
In the video, the train winds through dense green forests, steep mountain slopes and thick monsoon mist, appearing like an “orange snake” moving through the Western Ghats.
The footage captures a recent trial run on the challenging Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road ghat section, also known as Shiradi Ghat, in Karnataka. The stretch forms part of the highly anticipated Bengaluru-Mangaluru railway route and is known for its difficult terrain, steep gradients, sharp curves, tunnels and bridges. The video shows the beautiful contrast of a sleek and modern semi-high-speed train running through the middle of thick forests and high hills. “New age trains! Watch the video here: The video has mesmerised internet users, with many praising both the natural beauty of the Western Ghats and the engineering involved in operating a modern train through such difficult terrain. Some users were captivated by the unusual sight of the bright orange-and-white train emerging from the mist. One user wrote, “Modern engineering meets raw nature! Indian Railways is truly in its golden era.” Another commented, “This is awesome… Public infrastructure can only save our nature and sustain our growing population. How did we even bring the equipment to run the train in the think forest/ghat?
The railway line through the section features 57 tunnels, 258 bridges and 108 sharp curves, making it one of the more demanding stretches of the route. Safety trials for Vande Bharat operations on the ghat section began in mid-August 2026 as railway authorities assessed the train’s performance on the challenging terrain.
