Omprakash Lalta Pasi was a grumpy 18-year-old youth when he allegedly attacked and injured an umpire with a bat after being declared out during a cricket match in Mumbai’s Borivali area in 1990 and disappeared into thin air, perhaps thinking that he would never be traced.
Cricketer Arrested After Assaulting Umpire
A cricketer named Pasi has been arrested by Borivali Police after allegedly attacking an umpire with a cricket bat during a match. The incident occurred when Pasi, enraged by the umpire’s decision to declare him out, seriously injured the official before fleeing the scene.
Following the attack, a case was registered at Borivali police station under relevant sections of the now-repealed Indian Penal Code (IPC). Pasi failed to appear in court multiple times, leading to his designation as a proclaimed offender.
To evade arrest, Pasi frequently changed his address and contact information. However, police continued their investigation, tracking his movements through various contacts. After confirming his location, authorities apprehended him at Poonam Residency in Mira Road (east), Thane district. Further investigations are currently underway.
