This decision comes 28 years after the tragic event, signaling a renewed effort to seek justice for the victims and their families. Officials with knowledge of the matter confirmed the development.
SIA Investigates Historic Targeted Killings of Kashmiri Pandits
The State Investigation Agency (SIA) has launched an investigation into the 1998 Wandhama massacre, where 23 Kashmiri Pandits were killed by unidentified gunmen in January of that year. This case, along with others involving the killings of Sarwananad Premi Koul and Tika Lal Taploo, is part of an effort to address long-standing cases of targeted violence during the peak of militancy in Kashmir. A 14-year-old was the only survivor of the Wandhama attack.
In addition to the Wandhama case, the SIA is seeking public assistance in the investigation of the 1989 murder of judge Neel Kant Ganjoo. The agency has also apprehended two absconding terrorists linked to the 1990 assassination of Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq.
