A male tiger, critically injured and rescued from the Phato range of Uttarakhand’s Terai West forest division, died while undergoing treatment at a rescue center in Corbett National Park on Tuesday evening, according to forest officials. The animal’s condition was severe at the time of its rescue, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by wildlife in the region.
Tiger Rescued in Critical Condition, Investigation Underway
A tiger was rescued a few days ago in a severely compromised state and transported to a rescue center in the Dhela range of Corbett National Park. At the time of its rescue, the animal was in critical condition. Wildlife veterinarians promptly initiated treatment and maintained continuous observation of the tiger.
Biological samples were collected during the postmortem for further examination. These samples will be sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in Bareilly and the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in Dehradun for detailed analysis.
The official statement from Corbett National Park warden Binder Pal Singh indicates that the findings regarding the tiger’s health and the cause of death will be determined following the examination of these samples and other necessary procedures.
