Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a four-day trip to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan starting Saturday. During this visit, he will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit. Additionally, Modi is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Details of other meetings will be announced once they are finalised. The meeting with Putin will be among several bilateral engagements Modi will hold on the margins of the summit, the external affairs ministry said on Thursday. Modi will visit Uzbekistan from August 29 to 30 at President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s invitation before travelling to Bishkek on August 31 for the SCO Summit.
India and Russia Leaders to Discuss Bilateral Ties at SCO Summit
A meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to take place during the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. According to Secretary (West) Sibi George, the two leaders will review the full scope of the India-Russia relationship at this important gathering.
The SCO Summit, which commemorates 25 years of the organization, will address the changing security landscape in the region. Notable attendees include Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
During the summit, Modi is expected to emphasize key Indian priorities such as security, connectivity, and economic opportunities. This visit marks Modi’s fourth trip to Uzbekistan, where he will also engage with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to bolster bilateral relations. Their discussions will encompass areas like trade and investment, defense, digital connectivity, energy, education, and cultural exchanges.
