Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, celebrated Raksha Bandhan in a distinctive manner by sharing photos of his Cockroach-themed rakhi on Friday. This unconventional approach highlights the party’s unique branding and engagement with cultural traditions.
Political Symbolism in Recent Protest Actions
Dipke recently posted images on social media celebrating Raksha Bandhan, prominently featuring a cockroach-shaped Rakhi on his wrist, alongside a photo of the Rakhi itself that read, “Rakhi aur isteefa mubarak.” This gesture aligns with his role as the founder of the CJP, an organization that uses the cockroach as its emblem and focuses on youth issues, particularly in education.
The CJP has been active in organizing protests across India, including a significant demonstration at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar that lasted for 36 days. These protests were aimed at addressing alleged irregularities in the NEET examination process and concluded following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
CJI Kant had used the term while criticising what he described as increasing and unwarranted attacks on the judiciary and the legal system.
The term “cockroach” was taken by a remark made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a hearing in May, which then sparked the Gen-Z movement.
