In Manipur, nine Naga legislators, including Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, have called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take swift action against Kuki-Zo leaders. They allege these leaders are involved in recent attacks and the killings of Naga civilians. The legislators are pressing for immediate measures to address these violent incidents, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
Legislators Demand Action Against Deputy Chief Minister
Legislators have called for action against Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, accusing her of collusion with a Kuki armed group. They are also pushing for the immediate cancellation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with all Kuki armed factions, citing alleged breaches and attacks on civilians as justification for their demands.
Separately, the United Naga Council (UNC) on Monday issued an urgent directive asking Naga tribal organisations and village authorities to prevent villagers from cooperating with government officials involved in the census exercise scheduled to begin on September 1, 2026.
They warned that failure to act on their demands could make it difficult for them to defend their continued support for the Manipur government before the public.
