Tragic Collision Claims Life of Schoolgirl in Chitra
A tragic accident occurred this morning near Narangi More on the Sarath-Chitra Main Road, resulting in the death of a schoolgirl and injuries to four others. The incident took place when a speeding pickup van collided head-on with a school van that was transporting children back home.
The deceased has been identified as Munni Kumari, a resident of Narangi More. Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, but unfortunately, Munni did not survive the crash. The four injured children were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, including the speed of the pickup van, which was traveling in the opposite direction at the time of the collision.
A detailed investigation is underway and a manhunt has been launched to nab the pickup van driver, another officer said. “Among the four injured, two are boys and two girls. All four are undergoing treatment at Deoghar’s Sadar Hospital and their condition is stable.
The school van was carrying at least 10 children, all aged between 10 and 12 years, the SDPO said.
The victim girl’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination at the hospital,” Sarath Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mujibur Ansari told PTI.
