A Punjab Police constable and his sister were attacked by a group of three to four unidentified youths in Babbehali, Gurdaspur. Both individuals suffered serious injuries and have been taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment.
Constable Attacked After Reporting Drug Activity
Constable Karanpreet Singh was attacked following his decision to report drug peddlers in his village to the police. He stated that the assailants were motivated by anger over his actions. Singh also mentioned that he had faced previous attacks but claimed the police did not respond adequately.
The incident occurred while Singh was on duty at Babbehali Chhinj. Police received reports of a fight at a local adda but arrived after the attack had already taken place. Both Singh and his sister were subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to apprehend the attackers and have pledged to take strict action against those responsible. Singh expressed concern about the safety of law enforcement in Punjab, stating, “Law and order has collapsed in Punjab. Drug smugglers broke the legs of a police constable who raised his voice against them. When those in uniform are not safe, who will protect the common people?”
