The Bihar government has appointed Justice Harish Kumar, a judge at the Patna High Court, as the chairman of the Bihar Examination Reforms Expert Committee. This decision was announced through an official notification released on Tuesday.
The state government had announced to set up an expert committee to improve various competitive and recruitment examinations following several instances of irregularities, cancellation and question leak, which led to protests. Justice Harish Kumar of the Patna High Court has been made the chairman of the committee while other members of the committee will be announced soon, according to the notification of the General Administration Department.
Bihar Forms Committee to Reform Examination System
The Bihar government has established a five-member committee tasked with reforming the state’s examination system. Announced on August 23, the committee will submit its recommendations within three months. Its mandate includes addressing issues such as question paper leaks, cheating, impersonation, and the management of exam centers.
The committee’s recommendations will aim to enhance the integrity of examinations across various levels, including secondary, higher secondary, university, professional, technical, and recruitment processes. It will also propose measures to prevent delays and ensure the proper handling of answer sheets and results.
