Authorities have demolished a dilapidated government school building, which was highlighted by members of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) during their “School thik Karo campaign” last month. The CJP exposed the poor condition of the facility, prompting action from officials, who confirmed the demolition on Wednesday.
The school hit the headlines after a CJP team visited it as as part of its ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign to highlight the condition of government schools.
As per the plan, cleaning began at the school yesterday, and demolition of the old building to make way for new construction is underway today. Bulldozers could be seen demolishing the primary government school in Rampura Kanwarpura village in Bagru assembly constituency of Jaipur. The school hit the headlines after a CJP team visited it as as part of its ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign to highlight the condition of government schools. After the construction announcement, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka thanked the government in a video, saying the party’s objective was simply that the school be built. Buffaloes are also tethered near the temporary facility.
Rs 12 lakh from District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) funds and Rs 6 lakh from the MLA’s local development fund had already been approved for the school on August 13, according to MLA Kailash Verma. After the clash, the Chief Minister announced that on September 1 construction would be started. Party co-convener Ashutosh Ranka, who was injured in the August 21 attack said the school was functioning from a buffalo shed. Earlier reporting noted: The Government Primary School, located in the Bagru Assembly constituency, was declared unsafe in September 2025 and subsequently taken out of use. Its 18 students have since been attending classes in two rooms and a tin shed arranged by villagers.
The BJP MLA claimed he had already secured the funds and said the government is sensitive to school issues.
