This action followed a complaint made to Health Minister U T Khader regarding a damaged egg purchased through the online platform, which was alleged to have contained a worm. The department issued a statement confirming the inspection in response to the consumer’s concerns.
Food Safety Department Investigates Blinkit Egg Incident
The Food Safety Department has temporarily closed and sealed a storage room at Blinkit following a consumer complaint about damaged eggs. The complaint included a report of a worm found in one of the eggs ordered through the platform.
In response, the department will issue a notice to Blinkit, requesting an explanation from its management regarding the incident. They stated, “Further action will be taken based on the findings and the response submitted by the concerned establishment.”
Officials emphasized that sealing the storage area is a precautionary step to ensure thorough cleaning and sanitization after the discovery of the damaged egg packets. Blinkit has not provided an immediate response to the situation.
