Heavy rain alert across India today, IMD issues warning for Delhi NCR, Haryana, other states; check

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the monsoon will remain active across many regions of India on Sunday, September 6. Heavy rainfall is forecasted in isolated areas of several states, including Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.

Severe Weather Alert for Northeast India

The weather agency has issued an alert for severe weather conditions affecting the eastern and northeastern regions of India. Heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Additionally, areas in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are also on notice. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are likely to accompany these heavy showers in several locations.

East Rajasthan, too, is likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall on Sunday. The wider region is likely to remain wet, with fairly widespread rainfall expected over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. Rain will not be the only weather concern, as thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely across several parts of the country. The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Bihar, East Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Uttarakhand and West Madhya Pradesh.
