The Bihar government has announced a five-year extension of the Student Credit Card Scheme, which offers financial support to students pursuing higher education. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility and sustainability by introducing a new framework designed to improve the scheme’s overall effectiveness.
Bihar Expands Education Initiatives with New Approvals
The Bihar government has approved significant educational reforms, including the transformation of 300 standalone private BEd institutions into multidisciplinary degree colleges. This move aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the guidelines set by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). These institutions will introduce new courses, subject to adherence to established norms and necessary approvals from relevant authorities such as the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the state government.
In addition, the Cabinet has revised the admission process for industrial training institutes (ITIs). Starting now, 50% of the total sanctioned seats in private ITIs will be filled through the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board, Patna, streamlining admissions for prospective students.
