Devi Ahilya University in Indore has introduced a 100 percent tuition fee waiver for former Agniveers who have completed four years of service under the Agnipath scheme. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Central government, various state governments, and private institutions to provide benefits and concessions to Agniveers. The waiver aims to support these individuals in pursuing higher education and enhancing their job prospects.
The university recently announced that it will waive the entire tuition fee for former Agniveers, supporting them in pursuing higher education and improving their job prospects.
In addition to these benefits, the Central government and various state governments have announced concessions for former Agniveers in education and recruitment. Who Will Be Eligible For The Benefit? Candidates must have completed the mandatory four-year service period under the Agnipath scheme to qualify for the tuition fee waiver. Agniveers who were dismissed from service or faced disciplinary action during their tenure will not be eligible for the benefit. What Benefits Do Former Agniveers Get? They also receive a skill certificate and can access loans from banks on a priority basis to start their own businesses.
Its Executive Council has decided that former Agniveers who secure admission to any of the nearly 200 courses offered by the university will be eligible for a 100 per cent tuition fee waiver, according to the university. The university already provides a 50 per cent tuition fee concession to children of serving personnel from the three wings of the Armed Forces. Children of martyred and retired personnel are eligible for a 100 per cent tuition fee concession. After completing four years of service, Agniveers receive a one-time Seva Nidhi package of around Rs 11.71 lakh, which is exempt from income tax.
Speaking to news agency PTI, Dr Rakesh Singhai said there would be no limit on the number of former Agniveers who can avail themselves of the benefit, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
