Rahul Dravid, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, is now coaching the Dublin Guardians in the European T20 Premier League (ETPL). This marks a significant shift for Dravid, who has primarily been seen in support roles with the Indian national team and in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Vikram Rathore, the franchise’s head coach, expressed that it’s an unusual experience to see Dravid in this new capacity as an owner and coach. Despite the Guardians struggling with five consecutive losses, Dravid has remained a strong source of support for the team.
So, he’s been very supportive through the initial phase of this tournament, where we haven’t won anything. “Rahul is behaving like an owner. I mean, he hasn’t been too involved. So, it’s been good. So, he understands how the teams can go and how the results can go. We didn’t win any games out of the first five that we played.
Because he spent enough time being a coach, but I mean, as I said earlier, it is great to have somebody like him on the other side,. Because of Ashwin’s presence in the team, the former India batting coach also admitted that his job has become easier.
But he has been very supportive,” said Rathore during a virtual media roundtable.
