Ishan Kishan experienced a back sprain during India’s net session on Friday, causing visible discomfort and raising fitness concerns ahead of upcoming matches. The incident occurred while Kishan was batting in the pacers’ nets when he faced a well-directed short ball from Navdeep Saini. Attempting to evade the delivery, Kishan seemed to injure his back. He was seen in pain as India’s outgoing physio Kamlesh Jain rushed to assist him. After a few moments on the ground, Kishan walked out of the nets quietly.
The batter was subsequently seen holding the back of his waist and did not return to bat. The seriousness of the niggle will only be ascertained over the next 24 hours after Kishan gets adequate rest. Fresh from his exploits in the Duleep Trophy final, where he scored 270 and 80 against South Zone, Kishan had looked in ominous touch during the session.
