A fire erupted at Sethi Complex in Maniharon Ka Katla, located in Jaipur’s Tripolia Bazaar, on Thursday morning. The blaze quickly spread, affecting over 20 shops in the area, according to police reports.
Fire Breaks Out in Jaipur Shopping Complex
A fire erupted around 7 am today in cartons of goods stored outside a garment shop on the second floor of a shopping complex in Jaipur. The blaze quickly spread to nearby establishments, impacting garment warehouses, plastic goods shops, and bangle stores.
Police and officials from the Jaipur Municipal Corporation arrived at the scene to manage the situation. Khayalia, a municipal official, indicated that an investigation would be launched to verify whether the shop owners possessed the necessary fire No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
Kishanpol MLA Amin Kagzi criticized the municipal corporation for allegedly issuing fire NOCs without proper inspections. He has called for a thorough re-evaluation of all fire NOCs granted to buildings within the walled city, highlighting concerns about public safety.
“Most of the shops here deal in garments. Clothes kept in the corridors also caught fire,” he added.
Manak Chowk’s Station House Officer (SHO) Rakesh Khayalia said the preliminary investigation suggested that the fire was caused by a short circuit.
Power supply to the area was shut down as a precautionary measure. Fire-safety equipment installed in the building was also found to be non-functional. Because of the narrow lanes and the large quantity of combustible material stored inside the shops, firefighters faced difficulties.
More than 15 fire tenders were deployed to contain the blaze.
