Uddhav Thackeray, president of the Shiv Sena (UBT), announced on Thursday that he would pursue legal action if the ongoing campaign aimed at damaging his family’s reputation in connection with the 2020 Disha Salian death case does not cease. Thackeray described the campaign as a form of ‘character assassination.’
Salian’s death was an unfortunate incident but his family had no connection with it, Thackeray reiterated. Police claimed that it was a case of suicide. A week later, Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020, triggering speculation about a possible link between the two deaths. On September 2, the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI probe into Salian’s death while pulling up the Mumbai Police for failing to register an FIR for six years, observing that its investigation raises more questions than answers.
