Delhi Police have dismantled three illegal international call centres operating from residential areas in west Delhi. The operation led to the arrest of 23 individuals, including the alleged owners, managers, bankers, and telecallers. These call centres were reportedly involved in technical-support scams aimed at citizens in the United States, Canada, and various European countries. Authorities announced the arrests on Friday, highlighting the scale of the operation and its impact on victims abroad.
Police Conduct Raids on Call-Center Scam in Delhi
On September 17, police conducted coordinated raids at three locations in Meenakshi Garden, Ajay Enclave, and Kirti Nagar, acting on specific intelligence and technical inputs. The operation targeted individuals posing as customer support personnel for Apple and Microsoft, who allegedly contacted foreign nationals using internet-based calling applications.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Hareshwar V Swami reported that the premises were set up as workstations, equipped with laptops, mobile phones, routers, and headphones. During the raids, authorities recovered two high-end cars, 27 laptops, 28 mobile phones, 11 routers, 36 headphones, 25 adapters, and Rs 79,200 in cash.
Among those arrested were Saurabh Sharma (36), Saranjeet Singh alias Jerry (31), and Taranjeet Singh alias Jazz (34), identified as call-center owners or organizers, along with managers and telecallers. One individual was also apprehended for allegedly acting as a banker.
Preliminary investigations of the seized digital devices revealed a trove of information, including foreign call histories, lists of overseas telephone numbers, victim-related data, payment screenshots, and conversations.
