Chandan Koli has filed a complaint with the Saptarishi police outpost in Haridwar, requesting a thorough investigation into the death of his brother, Surendra Koli. He claims that Surendra’s death occurred under suspicious circumstances. This complaint was submitted on Sunday, highlighting concerns about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He said family members who saw Surendra Koli’s body on Saturday noticed blood coming from the body, along with blood stains around the mouth and nose. He also pointed to a rope tied around the neck. Police are also examining CCTV footage from the Saptarishi area as part of the investigation. Footage from the area where Surendra Koli was found dead inside a tea stall is being checked to establish the sequence of events and determine what happened before his death.
Chandan told police that the circumstances surrounding the death raised doubts about the possibility of suicide. Police, however, said the investigation was at an initial stage and the exact cause of death would be established after the post-mortem report.
Speaking to HT on Sunday, Chandan said these circumstances had led the family to suspect that his brother may not have died by suicide. He demanded a detailed investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and ensure that legal action is taken if anyone is found responsible.
Circle Officer (City) Shishupal Singh Negi said the circumstances appeared prima facie to indicate suicide, while stressing that the investigation was continuing.
