Tragic Bus Accident in Hungary Claims Twelve Lives

A Polish-registered bus traveling on the M3 motorway in eastern Hungary overturned early Sunday near Mezokeresztes. The bus was en route to Nyiregyhaza when it veered off the road into a ditch. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver may have fallen asleep, leading to the accident.

In the aftermath, twelve people have been confirmed dead, and several others sustained injuries. Authorities have taken the bus driver into custody for questioning.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki expressed his sorrow on social media, stating, “It is with deep sorrow that I received the tragic news of the Polish bus accident in Hungary, in which so many of our compatriots died.” Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski also referred to the incident as a “tragic accident” involving Polish tourists.
