A 31-year-old software engineer has reportedly died following an assault by his wife’s family members during a matrimonial dispute at his home in Nihal Vihar, outer Delhi, on Friday. Police have detained four individuals for questioning in connection with the incident, although no arrests have been made yet.
Police identified the deceased as Vinay Gupta, a resident of Laxmi Park, who married about three and a half years ago. Police did not identify the wife.
They have four-and-a-half-month-old twin children, a boy and a girl, police said.
Wife called family after argument
A dispute broke out between the couple at their residence on Friday morning, according to police. “Following the argument, Gupta’s wife called her family members, who reached the couple’s house in Nihal Vihar. The woman’s family members allegedly assaulted Gupta severely.
He sustained injuries in the assault and later died,” a senior police officer said.
