Australia star batter Steve Smith was warned by the umpires after he appeared to encourage Bangladesh

The incident occurred during the 9th over of the Australian innings when Taskin Ahmed struck Smith on the pads. The Bangladesh fielder went up for the appeal but umpire Nitin Menon turned it down. Taskin was not convinced and while he was trying to convince skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto to take a review, Smith decided to join in. Smith could be heard telling the fielders that he was well ahead and the ball was missing the stumps.

Australia star batter Steve Smith was warned by the umpires after he appeared to encourage Bangladesh fielders to challenge an unsuccessful LBW appeal on Day 1 of the second Test match on Saturday.

“I’m halfway down the wicket to him, it’s going miles over,” Smith said during the exchange. “Go for it,” he added.
