The CID has uncovered a financial trail amounting to ₹1.52 crore linked to alleged irregularities in the Karnataka Public Service Commission’s recruitment of veterinary officers. The investigation report reveals that between 60 to 80 questions from the examination were reportedly leaked to candidates. This significant breach of integrity in the recruitment process has raised serious concerns about transparency and fairness within the commission.
CID Investigates Alleged Recruitment Racket with Cash Payments and Jewelry Purchases
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has traced ₹ 92 lakh in deposits linked to an alleged recruitment racket. These funds were deposited into two accounts: one at Om Lakshmi Souharda Sahakari Sangha in Tilakwadi and another at Kotak Mahindra Bank. The deposits ranged from ₹ 1 lakh to ₹ 10 lakh and were reportedly made by candidates named in the investigation, including Siddharth, Basavaraj V, Mahendra, and Niranjan.
Additionally, three other candidates are implicated in cash payments. Kiran Gowda allegedly paid ₹ 10 lakh, Mohammed Sohail contributed ₹ 20 lakh, and Salim Onti is accused of paying ₹ 30 lakh.
The investigation also revealed that proceeds from the recruitment scheme may have been used to buy luxury items. A diamond and gold necklace worth approximately ₹ 22 lakh was reportedly purchased by IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar for his associate, Yaashi Jaiswal. The CID has obtained a statement from Jaiswal regarding this purchase.
So far, the CID has questioned 40 candidates, including 29 named in the initial report. Investigators claim that the suspect, Kannale, approached various candidates directly or through intermediaries.
