A young woman in Nagpur took her own life during a video call with her boyfriend after he declined to marry her. The incident has raised serious concerns, as her family claims the 34-year-old man had exploited her sexually under the guise of a future marriage. The woman used to work for a private company in Nagpur and lived with a friend in the Dhantoli area. The accused, originally from Maharashtra’s Amravati, was pursuing a PhD in Pune.
The couple had been in a relationship for several years, according to the police. Whenever the woman brought up marriage, he avoided giving a straight answer and tried to evade the topic, the police said.
A few months ago, the accused, along with his friend, had met the woman’s mother and expressed his desire to marry her – which she had approved. However, his family opposed the marriage. Police Investigate Call Connected After Woman’s Death
An investigation has uncovered a startling detail: a call remained active for approximately 23 minutes after the woman was pronounced dead. In response, authorities have filed a case of abetment to suicide against the accused at the Dhantoli police station. Police officials are currently conducting interviews with the suspect as part of their investigation.
