A safari helicopter crash in northern Kenya on Wednesday morning resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including five Americans. Local police and the State Department confirmed the fatalities, highlighting the tragic nature of the incident in this remote area.

Late on Wednesday, David Nkoroi, the police commander for Samburu, told reporters that all seven people on board had died.
“We are heartbroken to learn the tragic news that José was killed in a helicopter accident in Kenya,” the NBC affiliate in Miami quoted from a joint statement from NBC Universal and Telemundo leadership. Tropic Air Kenya, a local safari operator, said in a statement that it dispatched two of its helicopters to aid search and rescue operations. The Kenya Red Cross said that its emergency response teams were “participating in a multiagency response effort as rescue teams work to access the crash site.”
Helicopter Crash in Samburu County Under Investigation
A helicopter crashed today at 9:13 a.m. while traveling from the Loisaba Conservancy to the Ewaso Nyiro area in Samburu County. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed that an investigation into the incident is currently underway. There were seven individuals on board, including six passengers and the pilot.
