Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi has instructed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to enhance security protocols and infrastructure for upcoming national-level examinations. This directive was issued during a recent review meeting aimed at ensuring the integrity and smooth execution of these critical assessments.
The NTA’s Director General reported on several initiatives already in progress, reflecting a determined effort to bolster public trust in India’s examination system. These actions are part of a broader strategy to address concerns surrounding the credibility of high-stakes testing in the country.
However, the agency’s record has been marked by repeated controversies. The NEET-UG examination held in May was cancelled after evidence of a paper leak involving subject experts, prompting a Central Bureau of Investigation probe, student protests and the eventual resignation of the then Education Minister. The NEET-UG 2024 paper leak and subsequent irregularities drew widespread criticism.
