A second-year PUC student, who had been missing since January in Bengaluru, was located earlier this week after more than seven months. The police traced the student using an Aadhaar-linked OTP, which played a crucial role in their search efforts. Details surrounding the circumstances of the disappearance remain unclear, but authorities are relieved to have resolved the case successfully.
Missing Bengaluru Student Located After Seven Months
A second-year PUC student who went missing in January has been traced in Bengaluru after more than seven months. The police reported that the girl was located through an Aadhaar-linked OTP.
According to authorities, the student had left home with a minor friend, informing her family that they were heading to college. Neither girl took their mobile phones or other personal items, only their Aadhaar cards and college bags.
The pair initially traveled to Male Mahadeshwara Hills and later separated. Multiple police teams were engaged in the search for them.
The investigation was taken over by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in April, following a Karnataka High Court order related to a habeas corpus petition filed by the girl’s parents. However, details on how the Aadhaar information led to the girl’s location remain undisclosed as the police continue their efforts to find the other missing girl.
The police traced the mobile number associated with the girl to her husband, and after questioning him, they were able to locate her. She was subsequently returned to her parents after being presented before the High Court. Efforts to locate the other missing minor girl are ongoing.
