The incident occurred when the bus driver and conductor offered the girl a lift amid heavy rain in the Delhi-National Capital Region. Delhi Government to Enhance Safety Measures for Women and Children on Buses
The Delhi government plans to engage with neighboring states to improve the safety of women and children using buses to and from the national capital, according to Rekha Gupta. This initiative follows a distressing incident involving a 16-year-old Class 11 student from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, who was abandoned near Kashmere Gate after being gang-raped.
Authorities reported that after the victim informed the police about the assault, they traced and seized the sleeper bus involved for forensic analysis and arrested both suspects. The girl had left home feeling upset after being scolded by her mother and boarded a bus to Noida Sector 63, where her cousin resides.
During heavy rain around 9 PM, she mistakenly disembarked at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida. The bus conductor allegedly misled her into believing that another bus was also headed to Sector 63. The police are currently preparing to file a chargesheet in this case.
