Rajasthan Government Allocates Funds for New School Following Safety Concerns
The Rajasthan government has announced funding for a new school building in the Bagru Assembly constituency, following safety concerns that led to the closure of the Government Primary School in September 2025. Since the school’s closure, its 18 students have been attending classes in makeshift accommodations, including two rooms and a tin shed provided by local villagers, with buffaloes tethered nearby.
On August 21, workers from the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) visited the temporary facility but were met with hostility from a group present at the site. This incident sparked criticism of the state government. Just two days later, on August 23, the government responded by allocating funds for the construction of a new school building.
The CJP described this as a victory for its campaign that aims to fix government schools. Lalchand Sharma, a local from the area welcomed government’s decision, saying the demolition of the unsafe structure and construction of a new building were positive developments. “The recent incidents and chaos surrounding the school were unnecessary.
Party co-convener Ashutosh Ranka, who was injured in the August 21 attack said the school was functioning from a buffalo shed. ₹ 12 lakh was approved from the District Mineral Foundation Trust on August 13, while another ₹ 6 lakh was sanctioned from the MLA fund, taking the total allocation to ₹ 18 lakh, according to the government order.
