The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday slammed the Delhi government over celebrations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘s birthday, claiming the BJP was being “insensitive” towards the students who died in the Satya Niketan building collapse.

“These PM birthday celebrations, hawan, lighting of diyas reflect Delhi chief minister’s shamelessness and insensitivity,” Bharadwaj said in a video message.

Delhi Government Plans Month-Long Celebration for PM Modi

The Delhi government is set to kick off a month-long celebration, ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, to mark Prime Minister Modi’s 25 years in governance, starting October 7. This initiative includes various events across the capital, such as a Kundiya Yajna, a blood donation camp, and the lighting of 1.25 lakh diyas at Kartavya Path in the evening.

However, AAP Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj criticized these celebrations, pointing out that they come just 13 days after the tragic deaths of students. He expressed concern over the timing of what he described as ‘grand’ celebrations amidst such sorrow.
