Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi has suspended four students, prohibiting them from entering the campus. This action is linked to their involvement in a protest concerning alleged irregularities in the university’s admissions for the 2026-27 academic year. The suspension orders were issued by the university administration following the demonstration.

The students were part of an “unauthorised” sit-in at the university’s Central Canteen on August 24, despite being informed that protests could be held only at a designated area near Gate No. “One student has been suspended for 10 days, two students for a week each and a fourth student for only three days, depending on the varying degree of offence,” a university official told PTI.
University Responds to Allegations Amid Protests
The university has faced allegations from the Students’ Federation of India, which it previously labeled as “baseless.” The institution insists that its admission process is highly transparent and immune to manipulation.
In response to ongoing protests, the university issued suspension orders, stating that officials had engaged with the students, assuring them that their legitimate grievances would be reviewed by the appropriate authorities.
Students have been granted time to submit their explanations, after which the university’s disciplinary authorities will consider the matter further.
