Other BJP leaders also targeted the Congress chief.

The BJP has criticised Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his “baap” remark directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an event in Bihar’s Patna on Sunday. Union home minister Amit Shah accused the Congress of crossing all limits of political decorum by “targeting Modi ji’s father”.

Amit Shah accused the Congress of repeatedly using abusive language against the Prime Minister and his family.

Kharge was attending the 139th birth anniversary celebration of Bihar’s first chief minister, Shri Krishna Singh, when a person in the audience heckled, “ Modi kahin nahin jayega ” (Modi will not go anywhere). On X, Shah said Kharge had “torn apart all norms of decorum by making an indecent remark about Modi ji’s father in Patna.”

Earlier reporting noted: A stark remark by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge about Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an event in Patna triggered a massive row on Sunday as the BJP alleged he had insulted not just the PM and his late father but the country too. “This is not the first time that the Congress party has used abusive language against Modi ji or his family. At times, they have hurled insults at his revered mother, at times called him ‘merchant of death,’ and at times mocked his poverty by calling him ‘chaiwala,’” he alleged. “I was saying that unless there is a revolt, Modi will not go. Kharge made the comment in response to a man in the crowd who was heard saying the phrase “… Modi nahin jayega ( will not go/lose power ). The alleged heckler, Santosh Kumar, was thrashed by Congress supporters.

“Under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the Congress party keeps crossing the limits of indecency every day,” Shah said. Only one part of that sentence was heard and was misunderstood,” alleged heckler Santosh Kumar said after being pushed out of the venue. Earlier reporting noted: “Modi ka baap bhi jayega (Even his father will have to go),” Kharge said twice.
