A UK-based Indian-origin couple with roots in West Bengal’s Kolkata have gone missing during a Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage through Nepal, with the family holding on to a haunting last message from them.
Anal Kar is a chemical engineer, while his wife, Sanjukta Kar, is a teacher. The couple, fond of travelling with the Himalayas holding a special place for them, had undertaken another Himalayan trek a few months ago. The couple were travelling to Kailash Mansarovar when they went missing.
They moved to the United Kingdom in 2001 and live there with their two children. Anal and Sanjukta reached Kathmandu on August 18 after meeting relatives in Kolkata.
They were last traced to Timure near the Nepal-Tibet border, according to news agency PTI.
Family Seeks Answers on Missing Couple
The family of missing tourists Sanjukta and Anal is actively seeking information about their whereabouts. After contacting the travel agency responsible for their trip, they were unable to obtain any details regarding the couple’s location or well-being.
The following day, the family reached out to local police for assistance. A team from Bhawani Bhavan visited their home to gather essential information about the situation.
In a show of support, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari personally called the family to inquire about the missing pair. The family remains hopeful that Sanjukta and Anal will be located and returned home safely.
