The body of a revenue officer, who had been missing for four days, was discovered in Shahapur, Thane district, on Thursday morning, according to police reports. The officer had been reported missing earlier in the week, prompting a search in the area.
But when he failed to return, his concerned family members launched a search and then lodged a missing person report at the Shahapur police station. During their preliminary search, the Shahapur police recovered a note addressed to Shelar’s wife. Initial findings suggest that the note mentions no one should be held responsible for his death.
Shelar had gone missing since the morning of August 28, when he left home around 8.45 am, stating he was attending a post-funeral ritual.
The victim was found hanging inside a metal corrugated shed located near his residence.
Postmortem Ordered Following Accidental Death
Authorities have confirmed that the body involved in the incident has been sent for a postmortem examination at a government hospital. In response, local police have officially registered a case of accidental death.
