Shubham Tyagi, a PG operator, surrendered to the Patiala House Court following the dismissal of his anticipatory bail plea on Wednesday. His partner, Sudhanshu, has been in custody since September 9.
DCP (Southwest) Amit Goel confirmed Tyagi’s arrest, making him the sixth person to be arrested in connection with the case.
Tyagi was allegedly operating a paying guest accommodation in the south Delhi building and had leased one floor of the property from its owner, Hariram Gupta, according to police.
Two Additional Arrests Made in Building Collapse Investigation
The Patiala House Court has granted the Delhi Police custody of two suspects, Tyagi and Sudhanshu, for two days to facilitate further investigation. This comes as police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the recent building collapse.
Tyagi had been evading capture since the incident, prompting extensive searches by police teams. Meanwhile, investigators are analyzing Sudhanshu’s mobile phone records and online chat history to piece together events following the collapse. His phone has been sent for forensic examination.
Authorities have already arrested Mahesh, the son of the building owner, along with labour contractor Sanoj Kumar and PG operator Sudhanshu. Additionally, building owner Hariram Gupta, 81, and his wife Urmila, 75, remain in judicial custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
