India is preparing to showcase its rich culture and local products to journalists and delegates attending the 18th BRICS Summit. Scheduled for September 12 and 13, the summit will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. As part of the hospitality, attendees will receive special goodie bags filled with a variety of cultural items and local goods.
Gupta Promotes Local Products
“India is going vocal for local,” said Gupta during the unboxing of a promotional hamper. This statement underscores the government’s push to encourage domestic products and support local businesses.
International Media Centre Established for Summit Coverage
The government is establishing a special International Media Centre at Bharat Mandapam, the venue for the upcoming summit. This centre is designed to assist journalists in reporting from the event, facilitating access to information and enabling comprehensive coverage of the proceedings.
She added that it could become the West’s next discovery as a superfood. Another popular Indian snack included in the hamper is makhana from Bihar. The makhana will also give foreign journalists attending the summit a chance to try a snack that is popular across India.
The goodie bag also carries 100 percent Arabica specialty coffee from the tribal hills of Odisha.
“This is India’s, or should I say Bihar’s, best kept secret,” she said while showing the sattu in the hamper. Gupta said the coffee smells “really good” and said that it as another example of India promoting local products at the international summit. Gupta called it India’s go-to snack and said it has become a collective favourite, after banana chips.
