Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced on Saturday that the state has become one of India’s fastest-growing economies, with its economic output more than doubling since 2018. He outlined a vision for development that prioritizes the protection of natural resources, job creation, and improved livelihoods for residents.

Meghalaya’s Progress in Healthcare and Education

The Chief Minister announced that under the Safe Motherhood Scheme, CM-Safe Motherhood vehicles have transported one lakh pregnant women, including over 15,800 high-risk mothers, to healthcare facilities. Sangma emphasized that distance is no longer a determinant of a mother’s or child’s fate.

In education, Meghalaya has improved its standing in the national Performance Grading Index, raising its score from 448 to 525 within a year. Additionally, the SSLC pass rate surged from 57% in 2018 to 97.2%, while the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) pass rate increased from 75% to 86.6%.
