Brazilian Joao Fonseca announced on Monday that he would “skip the Asian swing” in order to recover physically and mentally after a season of injury lows and on-court highs.
Fonseca Prioritizes Recovery After Davis Cup Comeback
World number 28 Fonseca has opted to skip the upcoming Asian swing of tournaments to focus on his recovery. After missing the US Open due to abdominal pain, he made his return last weekend in Brazil’s 3-1 victory over Switzerland in the Davis Cup.
Fonseca stated, “I talked a lot with my team, and we came to the conclusion that the best decision right now is to listen to my body, give my mind and body a break, and skip the Asian swing.” He acknowledged the effort it took to compete and emphasized the need for more time to fully recuperate.
