Pakistan are likely to send wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and opening batter Imam-ul-Haq back home from their tour of England, where the team has endured heavy defeats in the first two Tests so far. Placed at the bottom of the World Test Championship points table, Pakistan lost the opening Test to England by an innings and 103 runs at Leeds and the second Test at Lord’s by 194 runs.
“It has been decided to send back Rizwan and Imam,” Geo News reported.
PCB Officials Address Team’s Poor Performance After Second Test Loss in England
Following Pakistan’s defeat in the second Test against England, a high-level meeting was convened by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Attendees included PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, COO Sumair Ahmed, PSL CEO Salman Naseer, senior selector Aaqib Javed, and head coach Mike Hesson.
A source within the PCB revealed that Naqvi, who also serves as a minister in the Government of Pakistan, has been made aware of the disappointment expressed by higher officials regarding the team’s performance. Concerns have also been raised over the media portrayal of the team, particularly following the airing of an interview with Imran Khan’s sons during the match on Sky Sports.
Reports indicate that wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan and opener Imam-ul-Haq are returning home, with Imam facing significant scrutiny. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Abdullah Fazal, who has played two Tests, is expected to join the team in England.
The meeting also discussed Hesson’s ongoing role with the Test team, confirming that he will stay with the squad for the remainder of the England tour.
