Sri Lankan batter Sonal Dinusha joined legends Kumar Sangakkara and Andy Flower in elite lists as he smashed his fourth successive fifty-plus score against India at Colombo on Thursday. During the final day of the second Test, Dinusha kept Sri Lanka’s hopes for a draw alive as he managed his fourth successive fifty-plus score of the series. Earlier, in the first Test, he had smashed 100 and 84, while in the ongoing Test, he scored 103 in the first innings and followed it with another half-century. Now, he has joined Sri Lanka stalwarts Kumar Sangakkara (against Bangladesh at home in 2013 and against England in UK in 2014) and Dimuth Karunaratne (against South Africa at home in 2018) as the third SL batter to have fifty-plus scores in all four innings of a two-match Test series.

Sonal Dinusha made headlines in Colombo on Thursday by scoring his fourth consecutive fifty-plus score against India. This achievement places him alongside cricketing legends Kumar Sangakkara and Andy Flower.
Dinusha becomes only the second batter to reach this milestone against India, following Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower, who recorded scores of 183*, 70, 55, and 232* during a tour in 2000.
Additionally, Dinusha is now among five players to have scored fifty-plus runs in their first four Test innings against India. The others include Douglas Jardine (England, 1932-34), Everton Weekes (West Indies, 1948), Clyde Walcott (West Indies, 1948), and Ken Barrington (England, 1959).
