Protests Erupt Over Exam Cancellations in Jharkhand
The Jharkhand state government has cancelled 22 examinations amid an ongoing investigation by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) into alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).
Following a special Cabinet meeting on Monday, the personnel department issued a notification on Tuesday, postponing six upcoming exams and placing 17 previously conducted since 2014 under investigation.
In response, candidates who recently obtained government jobs through recruitment tests staged a protest on Thursday. They demanded the reversal of the cancellations and the investigations into 23 other exams, according to PTI. Some protesters have also filed petitions with the Jharkhand High Court to challenge the government’s decisions.
While the protesters expressed support for the investigation into alleged irregularities, they objected to the blanket cancellations of the examinations.
