A video of Argentine lawmaker Juan Manuel Rossi has gone viral, leading to claims on social media that he was snorting cocaine during a legislative session. In the footage, Rossi is seen bringing an unidentified object close to his nose. Rossi has vehemently denied these allegations, asserting that the object was merely a pen he was using to scratch his belly button. To further dispel the rumors, he has offered to undergo a toxicology test to demonstrate that he has not used any drugs.
Rossi Denies Accusations Amid Controversy
Rossi, a provincial deputy representing the Juntos por Entre Ríos bloc, has publicly rejected accusations against him, labeling the situation as a smear campaign designed to tarnish his reputation. In a statement posted on X, he asserted that the original footage in question depicted him holding a pen, which he claimed he was using to scratch his belly button.
In addition to denying the allegations, Rossi has volunteered to take a toxicology test. He suggested that the accusations are part of a larger political strategy targeting him and other officials linked to Entre Ríos Governor Rogelio Frigerio.
Notably, Rossi is part of a bloc allied with President Javier Milei’s government, and he accused opponents linked to the Peronist opposition of using the video to target him. Some reports have also cited an official from Frigerio’s administration as claiming that the viral clip had been manipulated using artificial intelligence.
