Climber Rescued After Getting Stranded in Mono County
A climber in Mono County was rescued after becoming stranded on August 22. Martin contacted authorities at approximately 1:20 PM local time, reporting that he had taken a wrong turn and was unable to move due to a steep drop below him.
The Mono County Sheriff Search and Rescue Team responded to the situation, noting the dangerous conditions of the area. They organized a high-angle rescue operation, deploying specialized rope systems to lower a technician down the mountain face to reach Martin’s location.
By early morning, the rescue technician successfully reached the climber, securing him in a harness for extraction. Emergency responders assessed Martin on-site and confirmed that, despite his exhaustion, he had avoided major injuries.
