An Indian seafarer, identified as Wiper Suraj Yadav from Deoria in Uttar Pradesh, was killed when the vessel MV Cape Dao was attacked while en route to India. This information was confirmed by the Forward Seamen’s Union of India (FSUI).
Two Torpedoes Strike Vessel, Indian Seafarer Killed Off Oman Coast
A ship off the coast of Oman was hit by two torpedoes, resulting in the death of an Indian seafarer. The attack struck the port side C-deck, which houses the crew’s living quarters, and the hull near the engine room. There were 28 crew members on board, including 20 Indian nationals.
The Federation of Seafarers’ Unions of India (FSUI) condemned the assault, stating that assurances regarding the safety of seafarers in the region are meaningless in light of this incident. They emphasized that innocent civilian seafarers are being targeted in the area around the Strait of Hormuz.
FSUI has called for immediate accountability for the attack and is advocating for safe passage for all seafarers operating in the region. They demand justice for the deceased seafarer, identified as Yadav, and for all Indian seafarers who remain at risk in these waters.
