The bodies were pulled from beneath destroyed houses by Gaza’s Civil Defence teams. Maryam said she had lost her husband, Mahmoud Balaawi, and their three children, Hala, Maya and Mohamed. Among those gathered was Maryam Hassan al-Balawi, who finally found the bodies of members of her family after waiting for a year. “My husband and children were martyred. I have only one daughter left. “Our entire life is gone. I have no life left. My daughter cries every day, she wants her father”, she added. The entry of heavy machinery needed to clear collapsed buildings has been restricted, making the search even more difficult.
